If you have young children it is
not fun to think about them having a future without you but there
are important steps you need to take so you can rest assured that
your family will be taken care of.
On the Chris Berry show we
usually talk about planning for the second half of life but if you
have young children it is incredibly important to have a plan in
place in case something terrible happens to you and you leave them
behind. This week we are talking about some of the things you need
to plan for in the first half of life.
In this episode of The Chris
Berry Show, we’ll discuss some of the things that need to be
considered when making plans regarding your children’s future if
anything should happen to you. We will also be talking to guest
Maggie Gibbons about Alzheimer's, the Alzheimer's Association, and
the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
In this episode, you’ll

Q&A
In each episode, I take
questions from listeners. If you do have any questions that you
want answers to, feel free to email us at askchris@thechrisberryshow.com.
Here are the questions I covered in this episode:
- Donna
asked: "As a single mother in my 40s, what are some safe ways to
grow my money for retirement? I have the majority of my money in
CDs and three children I want to provide for college. One of them
is about to go into college next year."
- Pete
asked: "I'm the beneficiary of a trust in $100,000 and
wondered if I have a legal right to the copy of that trust or will?
I've called the attorney's office where the trust was set up and
have heard nothing."
- Jim
asked: "Is life insurance a good way to leave money to a
child?"
- Bill
asked: "After completing a trust, how do I inform or give copies of
the paper or accounts to my adult children?"
- Karen
asked: "My mom wants her will changed but is bedridden and
cannot leave the facility."
- Simon
asked: "Are there any benefits to contributing to my employee 401K
over my Roth if the employer is not matching? I opened a Roth IRA
years ago before I was enrolled in my company 401K plan. Now, I
work for the state and I'm enrolled in their 401K plan, however,
the 401K plan does not match my contributions. Are there any
benefits in contributing to my employer's 401K as opposed to my
individual Roth IRA? Is there one that I should focus on
first?"
